What is the procedure/How is it performed?

Breasts may drop because of different reasons. Ligaments which hold breast tissue in its place may get loose in time. An incompatibility between breast tissue and skin membrane may be in question due to changes in weight, breast feeding, and gravity. Problem may be regarding breast tissue, skin or both. In the end, a ptotic breast, having a hollow view so to speak, may appear. In order to remove these problems, the mastopexy is performed.

How long does it take?

Generally it takes about two-three hours.

What kind of anesthesia is used?

The surgery is performed under intravenous sedation or general anesthesia.

How long is hospitalization? 

You can leave the hospital on the same day.

How does the recovery period progress? 

 The post-operative period is generally comfortable. The pain usually does not create a problem. A bra-corset is worn for up to six weeks. After three days, medical dressing is opened in order to control the scar. The patient could return work within three-seven days. It is recommended for the patient to avoid heavy exercises for three months. 

What are possible risks and undesired results? 

Undesired results after surgery are just like the ones in every other surgery. Healing troubles, asymmetries, and problems regarding scars may be seen rarely.

How are the results?

Aesthetic mastopexy is generally a surgery that gives good and permanent result, heals mental health of the person and her spouse and makes them enjoy the life more. Newly shaped breast is durable for a long time. However changes in weight, pregnancy, breast feeding and gravity may cause new ptosis (bagginess).
