Blepharoplasty


What is the procedure/How is it performed?

Blepharoplasty enables to remove excess skin and herniated fat tissue from the body. In this way, it is provided to both have a nice appearance and for the person to see comfortably.

How long does it take?

It takes one-two hours.

 

What kind of anesthesia is used?

The surgery is performed under intravenous sedation in general. It could be performed under general anesthesia, as well.

 

How long is hospitalization? 

You usually could be discharged from hospital on the same day.

 

How does the recovery period progress? 

Early period after the surgery is generally comfortable. Swelling and bruising may be seen around the eye. In the eyes, dryness, stinging feeling, and blurred vision may occur. Tears may increase. Eyes may be uncomfortable due to the light. The patient may not be able to close her/his eyelids in the first days. These are cases expected to be remedied on their own within the first week. Sutures are removed after three-five days.

What are possible risks and undesired results? 

Except for undesired results possibly to be observed after each operation, there may be problems regarding asymmetry and lid opening. These are rare and recoverable problems.

 

How are the results?

The surgical results are satisfactory. It is permanent for six-ten years.
