Liposuction


What is the procedure/How is it performed?

Liposuction is a surgery during which fat deposits in the some parts of the body get sucked via a specific vacuum, or specific injectors and are removed from the body. This is not a weight-loss operation, but a body contour surgery. Owing to this surgery, the fatty tissue which is resistant to exercise and diet and has an increased volume is removed from the body, and number of existing fat cells is also reduced.

How long does it take?

It takes one hour or more according to width of the location on which the surgery is performed.

What kind of anesthesia is used?

The surgery is performed under intravenous sedation or general anesthesia.

How long is hospitalization? 

This is usually a day-case surgery.

How does the recovery period progress? 

Returning work changes according to extent of the procedure. The patient could start exercise and walks one week later. It is not a very painful procedure. It requires wearing a corset for one and half month.

What are possible risks and undesired results? 

Every surgical intervention has some risks. Bruise, swelling, effusion , bleeding and infection are the negativities possibly to be observed in the early stage. Sensation disorders and surface disorders are undesired results to be observed rarely.

How are the results?

The results are generally permanent and satisfactory. Lipoidosis  can be experienced again even a little in case of gaining weight seriously.
