Rhinoplasty

What is the procedure/How is it performed?

Rhinoplasty or the operation of nose restructuring is one of the most commonly implemented operations of plastic surgery. Rhinoplasty makes your nose smaller or bigger, changes the shape of your nose’s tip or splint , narrows the width of your nostrils or changes the angle between your nose and your upper lip. Rhinoplasty remedies a congenital or injury deformation or eliminates some breathing problems.

How long does it take?

The surgery takes about two-three hours.

What kind of anesthesia is used?

The surgery is performed under intravenous sedation or general anesthesia.

How long is hospitalization?

Generally you could leave the hospital in a few hours after surgery.

How does the recovery period progress?

When the surgery is completed, a plaster splint is applied on the nose in order for the nose to protect its new shape. Nose packing is not used. This is an important reason for your comfort after the surgery. You may notice that the bruising and swelling around your eyes become more apparent on the second day. If any, your sutures are removed on the fifth day. The plaster is removed on the tenth day.

What are possible risks and undesired results?

Every surgical intervention has some risks. Like in each operation, it is possible that some undesired situations occur after rhinoplasty. Nausea, blood leakage, and infection could be observed in the early stage. In the long term, some problems could occur regarding respiration and appearance of the nose.

How are the results?

The results of rhinoplasty surgery are beautiful, satisfactory, and permanent. Time and patience are important.
